Nara, a small, tranquil Japanese town, is home to numerous magnificent temples and shrines and a park famous for its freely roaming deer. The charming, century-old Nara Hotel, a favorite of dignitaries, offers a welcome haven of repose: We lose ourselves with delight in the citys winding alleys. In the air floats an exquisite fragrance of sandalwood, its warm, comforting scent enriched by a hint of sweet and sensual jasmine.

The candle fragrances were developed by Astier de Villatte designers and perfumer Franoise Caron who worked with a team at Takasago.

The candles are made of biodegradable vegetable wax (a mix of soy, beeswax, and plant extracts) and have cotton wicks.

The glass is hand blown in Tuscany, making each one completely unique.

• Care instructions: ensure the entire wax surface is molten each burn before extinguishing the flame. Trimming the wick after each burn prevents soot forming on the glass.
• The labels and packaging for the candles are printed by Monsieur Huin, the last typesetter in France.
